ARTIST'S STATEMENT
In my paintings I am exploring the spontaneous manifestation of childlike imagery executed on an intuitive level. Influenced by contemporary children's drawings, prehistoric cave and rock art, and my own memories, I am tapping in to the innate desire to make imagery of and for human experience. Children's art around the world is surprisingly similar to the art of prehistoric adults. By using these simple shapes and patterns I connect to an elemental creativity in the adult viewer. The content of my work may allude to a narrative, but one that is up for imaginative speculation rather than strict interpretation. In my paintings I hope to evoke a spirit of creativity and the built-in desire to leave a mark that tells a story.
